Nikita Bontra
Growing up in Bombay, Nikita was surrounded by color, textiles, craftsmanship, and homes shaped by generations of history. Those early influences still inform the way she approaches interiors today.
Her background spans both interior and architectural design, with experience across every stage of a residential project, from early space planning and material selections to custom details and final installation. Before founding Skilton House, Nikita worked as a Senior Designer at Becca Interiors, contributing to residential projects featured in leading design publications.
She has always been drawn to homes that feel collected rather than decorated. Her work often brings together antiques, natural materials, pattern, and contemporary pieces in a way that feels comfortable rather than overly composed, leaving room for the personality of the people who live there.
Through Skilton House, Nikita creates interiors that feel personal, layered, and connected to the people who live within them. She believes the most enduring homes are not simply designed to be beautiful. They are designed to be lived in, gathered around, and made entirely their own.
“I so enjoyed working with Nikita on our home. I knew I could always rely on her excellent taste and design advice, and her calm, professional manner was incredibly reassuring whenever I had a design question or crisis. This is such a personal business, and she has a wonderful ability to make people feel comfortable while keeping everything moving smoothly.”“Her excellent taste and calm, professional manner were incredibly reassuring.”
“We cannot say enough about our experience with Nikita and her team at Skilton House. From the very first meeting, Nikita made the process an absolute joy. She listened intently to our design ideas and then took them to a level we never dreamed possible. She was in constant communication with us and with all the sub-contractors and vendors. She was there to troubleshoot any issues and her attention to detail is unmatched. She is by far the best designer I have ever had the pleasure of working with and I cannot wait to get started on our next project!”“She listened intently, took our ideas to a level we never dreamed possible, and her attention to detail is unmatched.”
